Couch Session (Today Is Not That Day) by Buddah Desmond

I don’t want to go out

Don’t want to leave the house

I want to stay here

Swim in my tears

Play my favorite bluesy, sad love songs

And sing along

Eat dark chocolate almond butter cups

Strawberries

Jerk wings

Sweet potato fries

And drink boxed wine

Wrap up in a blanket and lay

On the couch is where I want to stay

I can already hear the chatter

Wondering, how did he mess this up?

To them, what does it matter?

I owe no explanations

I’ve never been a fan of justification

To people in which I seek no validation

Yet for some odd reason, this time it really stings

Though the end was inevitable, I wasn’t quite

ready to spread my wings

My heart never imagined we would end up like this

Never thought I’d still be savoring our first and last kiss

In you I saw always and forever

But always and forever will not be

At least not in the way we dreamed

always and forever to be

We’re different now

Gonna make it somehow

I don’t want to go out

I don’t what to leave the house

Just want to stay here and play

Sad, bluesy love songs all day

Gotta get up off the couch some day

But today is not that day
