Support Diverse Creatives

Chapter 3 of "I AM YOU" deals with heartbreak and loss. The chapter exposes the necessity of support needed within underrepresented communities. Thus, to commemorate Chapter 3, the Osamasetorbest.com site will highlight local Boston creatives and how to support them.

LEAH TAVARES, FOUNDER OF OTHER 1S

Leah Tavares is born and raised in Boston, MA and currently living in Portland, OR and working at Wieden + Kennedy, the agency known for many memorable moments in advertising, including coining Nike's "Just Do It."

In October 2020, Other 1s Foundation was founded. The organization collects triple white Nike Air Force 1 sneakers of all sizes, all conditions, to donate to various communities both locally and globally. Her first 100 pair donation distribution took place in Cabo Verde, Africa on the capital island Praia, Santiago where Leah's family is from, summer of 2021.

The mission is to repurpose the popular pair and provide footwear relief that empowers a sense of community through fashion, culture, and the spirit of service.

No pair goes to waste, no one is forgotten.

How to Support

Other 1s Foundation can be supported through many efforts, most importantly by generous donations of triple white AF1s all sizes (women's and children's are currently a greater need)

Monetary donations can also be made via Venmo @other1sfoundation as well as PayPal other1sfoundation@gmail.com

ABNER MONTFLEURY, CEO AND FOUNDER OF MONTFLEUR DUVIN WINE COMPANY

Boston native Abner Montfleury founded Montfleur Duvin in August 2020 to diversify the wine space after noticing “there weren’t many people who looked like me.” His first varietal was Yvonne, an aromatic white wine made with Gewürztraminer grapes honoring his grandmother and Haitian heritage. A red blend soon followed as an homage to Montfleury’s mother Carline. Montfleur Duvin wines are available in locations across US and shipping to over 45 states online. The brand has enjoyed partnerships with the Haitian Embassy in Washington, D.C., and even their own ice-cream in a collaboration with The Charmery.

What began as attending wine festivals in search of black-owned brands, led to years of diligent work and planning. A vision was put forth. He is committed to making fine wines that are evocative and meaningful to the soul with every high-quality and well-balanced bottle shared, while also increasing the Black representation in the wine industry.
